Sucker is a retail platform for independent designers based in Melbourne, Australia. Opening in 2021, the store has evolved from a local boutique to a retailer of 50+ designers, labels, and makers from all over the country, and more recently beyond. Co-owners Aden McLeod & Ben Tambyah are on an ongoing mission to curate a progressive, inclusive, and exciting shopping experience in-store & online.
The two come from humble beginnings on the South Coast of New South Wales; Ben from a creative business background and Aden, photography. Sucker was birthed as a lifestyle magazine in 2015 which then took the shape of an art gallery for emerging artists in 2018. From this, the pair harnessed their skills and past experiences to create their idea of what Melbourne was looking for in terms of a retail/fashion experience.
As everything is done in house from the fit-out, to ecom & imagery, this has allowed the team to grow not only with the store, but with its designers and community. Hosting a variety of menswear, womenswear, jewellery, accessories, & homewares, Sucker plans to maintain an elevated everyday-wear-centred vision with growth, sustainability, and longevity in mind.
The aim is to uplift our labels, customers, and communities through the store and the work that we do.
